History

What are these infections and diseases? What does one mean by infections in the skin? The answer to that is also explainable in this article. An infection is an invasion of the body tissues by disease causing microorganisms, their multiplication and reaction of body tissues to these microorganisms and the toxins that they produce. Infections are caused by microorganisms such as viruses, prions, bacteria and viroids, though larger organisms like macroparasites and fungi can also seem to infect. All the skin diseases are not really the same, so it is difficult to identify by the appearance of the skin condition sometimes. But fungal skin diseases can be different from the other skin diseases as they leave fungus marks on the skin. Moving towards the fungal infections, these infections are called as mycosis. Mycosis is a fungal infection that is most commonly found in human beings and animals.

Features

Mycosis is common, and a variety of environmental and physiological conditions can contribute to the development of these fungal diseases. Inhalation of fungal spores or localized colonization of the skin may initiate persistent infections; therefore, mycosis often starts in the lungs or the skin. People are at a risk of fungal skin diseases when they are taking strong antibiotics for a long period of time because antibiotics kill not only damaging bacteria but healthy bacteria as well. This brings a change in the balancing of microorganisms in the skin and other places in the body and these results in the increasing of the fungus on the skin.
