Business men have done a lot of hard work on research. Gone are the days where barter trade was considered the pinnacle of trade. Many new aspects have come up. One such area is that of retailing. Over the year’s retailers have gain very high significance in all businesses? Without proper functioning of retailers, businesses do not prosper.

So what is the Retailer’s job? Retailer's job is to sell merchandise or specific service to the customer. They have task to of selling single units or in bulk. So the Retailer's job is to be with direct contact with the customer. Hence it is a very important point for the business. Here you can make or break the deal. The retailers are like the face of the company. They influence the customer highly as they are in direct contact with the customer. So it is highly advisable to keep the customer happy. The push factor can only be applied with the consent of the retailer. In a broad spectrum Retailers started several thousand years ago. It is said that when peddlers began hawking, they were the 1st retailers. If we look for an unspecified or general sense, than during the bartering days retailers were also present. So we can safely say that humans worked as retailers thousands of years ago.

Factors effecting retailing

As businesses generally are retailing is also done in competitive environment. Retailers have to face many competitors and they don’t give away any free lunches. It is a very competitive market. The fundamental thing retailers differentiate themselves with in price. Though there are also factor involved in the working of retailers. The location of the retailers is also an important factor. In today’s day and age nobody wants to travel far and wide to buy stuff. So closer the retailer is selling to his target market the better it is. Besides that the display of the selling things is also important. Are the customers attracted to the things? All these non monetary factors also play a huge role in the success of retailers.

As mentioned above businesses have evolved. Every day new steps are taken up. Due to the competition and rising customer expectation retailing has also changed. For example, now we see newer ways of retailing such as door to door selling. Retailers going to doors are trying to sell products with special packages. It is becoming a growing trend. Telephone sales are also other growing and developing phenomena. It has become a huge industry. Convenience selling is the new thing for retailers. We all look for easier and simpler ways to buy stuff.
