How To Make a Bird House

A bird house looks really good and they are very useful. You can make use of a birdhouse in many ways. You can place them in your house garden for birds to come and sit here or have a bird family live in it. They add to the scenic beauty of your garden as they look really good and the beauty is added to the outdoor of your house when birds come and use it. You can make a bird house yourself as bird houses are not that difficult to build. You just need to know a few things like what attracts birds, the different species of birds and how to protect birds once they start coming and using the house that you make for them. There are many ways by which you can make a birdhouse on your own.

Step 1

The first thing that you need to know when you are designing a bird house is where to place it. Always keep in mind that you need a place which attracts the maximum number of birds. For example if you are designing a birdhouse for a beautiful pair of birds and you place in a place which happens to be in the suburbs of the city then you will only get disappointed to see how much birds come to live in it. If you place in a residential area only then will you get more birds in it. So the location matters a lot so you must first know about the location of the house.

Step 2

The other thing you need to know for your bird house is the likes and dislikes of the different species of birds. There are some birds who like to live in spacious and vast places while others like to live in tiny, cozy places which are tight enough to keep them close to each other. Also they like to raise their babies in a place which is cozy and warm.

Now to make a bird house after you have gathered ample knowledge on birds, you need to get pieces of wood. You can either purchase them from a wood shop or have them from a tree in your back yard. You can get a few pieces of wood and then try putting them together them and attach them by using nuts and screws. You can make a hut type shape of the bird house. Do not forget to cover the roof the house with an additional piece of wood. This piece of wood will keep the birds from getting wet in case of a storm or something like that and more birds will be attracted towards it.

Step 4

You also need to make a pole or a stand for your bird house and have your house placed there, on top of the pole that is. This will make the birds safe from any sort of danger. The house will be on top of the pole and its upto you, you can make your pole as long as you want and you can place your house as high as you want. Cats and dogs which chase birds will not be able to harm the poor birds this way.

Step 5

The other thing you must do is make your bird house as attractive as possible. You can do this by adding attractive colors and decorations to your birdhouse. You can paint your house with sharp colors like hot pink, green, blues, reds etc. these are the colors which a lot of the flowers are of and they attract the birds.

A bird house must be designed in a way which can actually be used by birds. You must also try making the bird house beautiful and attractive for birds.
