Introduction

If you have or ever had a new puppy, you know that housebreaking the animal can be a job in itself. At times, it can be very frustrating and annoying when you constantly have to clean up a mess and then have to discipline your puppy. Not only is it frustrating to you, the owner, but it also can be frustrating and confusing to the dog as well. There are several dog training aids that can help your pup use the bathroom where he or she is expected.

Methods of Housebreaking

If you're looking to adopt a dog, first ask if the dog is housebroken. If the dog is, then you're in the clear. However, if the dog is not, then you have a lot of things to think about. A lot of new pet owners use a crate as dog training aids. The crate idea is a great idea as it shows your dog that the crate is his or her living area. A dog will not want to go to the bathroom inside his or her own living area and will learn to relieve himself or herself when let out of the crate and sent outside to do it's business.

Another one of the great dog training aids is to simply familiarize your dog with the outdoors. All this consists of is taking your dog outside regularly and letting him or her explore the surroundings. Make sure to take your dog out right after he or she is done eating, therefore it sticks in the dogs head, that after he or she eats, it's time to go to the bathroom.

Another one of the dog training aids is to follow the paper method. Although, not suggested as a long term method, this method could do some good. What you'll need to do is cover the floor entirely with clean newspaper. After your dog is done eating, let the dog into the room where the newspaper is and allow him or her do their business in that specific room. As soon as the pooch goes to the bathroom, praise him or her and give him or her a treat. This method is best for people who are on a time restraint and it still will teach your puppy that he or she will be rewarded for good behavior.

There are several popular dog potty training aids on the market. Some of them do not work, some do. Some of the more popular training aids are: Doggie Diapers, Simple Solution Training Aid Spray, Bramton Company Training Aids, Potty Mouth Dog Training Aids and OdoBan Pet Housebreak Trainer. Tips and comments

As we know, housebreaking a new pet is going to take a whole lot of patience on your part as well as the pets part. It is important to learn how to understand your dog, as they think differently than humans do and don't put two and two together as quickly as humans do. Once you understand the personality of your pet, it's a whole lot easier to decide which of the training aids could be beneficial to your individual pet.
