New Research For Cancer Therapy

One of the advancement that technology has provided the world is the enhancements and developments in regards to therapy for cancer. Long before the breakthroughs have occurred, cancer was considered as incurable, deadly and the world’s most cursed disease. Though at this point, cancer is still open for more research and development, the society has known means and ways about cancer. This has given several individuals hope and strength to battle this disease. Today, researchers are done to ensure that reoccurrences are avoided and that treatments and preventions are done accordingly.

Cancer has been an object of medicine for millennia now. As history states, cancer was first defined and named by the father of medicine known as Hippocrates in 460 BC. Throughout the years, studies have been made to further explain how cancer occurs and spreads. Starting from a mutated cell, the study goes on until they determined that cancer cells spread through the blood stream. Most of these understanding take part because of autopsies done by various scientists. It was in the renaissance period where therapy for cancer started. John Hunter, a Scottish surgeon explained how cancer can be treated by removing tumours in the body through surgeries. Following that breakthrough was the establishment of oncology, the study of cancer during the early 19th century. Up until today the 21st century, several methods and treatments were developed in order to fully explain and treat cancer. Some of these cancer therapies are hormone therapy, immunotherapy and chemotherapy. However, these progresses are still incomplete because survival rate for cancer is still low due to reoccurrences.

Today, numerous researches on therapy for cancer are done to manage and control this disease. Most of the recent researches done today are nanotechnology, robotic surgery and RNA expression profiling and proteomics. To give an idea about these researches, nanotechnology is about producing very tiny particles. These particles will enter the body to produce better images during tests thus the specific location of the cancer is known. It can also be used to administer drugs that would directly hit the cancer cells. This method will avoid killing the healthy cells. Robotic surgery would enable surgeons to operate invasive procedures with less trauma involvement. Along with that, using robotic surgery would fully eliminate tumours without risking complications to surrounding tissues and organs. And lastly, RNA expression profiling and proteomic allows physicians specifically oncologists to determine large volumes of RNA at the same time. Knowing the particular cell behaviour would greatly affect the diagnosis for each cancer patient by determining which of them is antagonistic and less antagonistic.

Tips and comments

Through these developments, a new era of therapy for cancer has opened possibilities to survive. However, these breakthroughs are still indefinite. Studies are yet to be done to fully understand and treat cancer. If you are an individual who has cancer of any type, you must keep fighting. There are dozens of therapy for cancer out there that you can take. Having cancer doesn’t mean that you already have a life sentence. Keep fighting. One day, with the aid of technology, the right treatment or therapy for you will be created. It is because science is a never ending search for knowledge.
