Introduction

Every country has its own traffic and driving laws. Likewise, in the state of Georgia, after increase in the rate of auto-accidents by the teenagers due to abrupt driving at nights, speeding and mad driving with under-age drinking urged Georgia State to pass driving law in 1997 by the name of Teenage and Adult Driver Act (TADRA). According to TADRA, teenagers have to pass a test to get graduated driver’s license. Georgia State also passed a law that all drivers must have to fulfill GA insurance requirements in order to drive a vehicle in Georgia.

Following GA insurance regulations have been passed by Georgia State:

  • According to the GA insurance law, every driver has to maintain continuous insurance liability on their vehicle till they own it.
  • GA insurance coverage packages are quite challenging. Every person owning or driving vehicle in Georgia must have to fulfill minimum auto GA insurance in amount of 25/50/25. This equates $ 25,000 for one bodily injury, $ 50,000 for two or more bodily injury and $ 25,000 for per property damage.
  • While transferring or changing or buying new Georgia license plate tag, driver must be having GA insurance with it. No issuance of Georgia license plate tag is allowed without having GA insurance.
  • If continuous insurance liability is not properly maintained by the drivers then Georgia State have the right to suspend or revoke his vehicle.
  • Driving without insurance liability is strictly prohibited in Georgia and if someone is caught without it then they have to pay high charges for it.
  • If a driver is caught in an accident without having GA insurance liability then he will be punished by heavy fee charges and vehicle impounding.

The most important thing Georgia State did is that GA insurance law is not only for adult drivers but teenagers also had to fulfill those laws:

  • Teens in Georgia must have to be 15 year old when applying for driver’s learner permit. Mostly the public schools offer a driving course in their curriculum but if not, then teens can get it from any private driving institute. Once they pass the test, a document containing teacher’s signature must be carried to Motor Vehicle department as well as to Insurance firm.
  • Two graduated driving license are issued to teens in Georgia i.e. a learner’s permit and then provisional license. Student with learner’s permit are carried under parent’s GA auto insurance policy but once they get provisional license then parent has to buy an additional GA insurance policy for his child.
  • If parent is having only a car then he have to put his teen under secondary driver but if parent is having more than a car, then teen can be added as a primary driver on second or third car.
  • Teen driver scores fewer points on his provisional driving license than adult driver’s license. If the teen commit accident or break any other traffic law then the points are deducted from his driving license and have to face high insurance premium.
  • On continual loss of scores on driving license, court can revoke teen’s license as well as his insurance.
