Is there any connection to how we eat or what we eat, and how healthy we are? Most people will tell you, "yes there is" and they are right. Eating healthy is essential to how our bodies act and respond during the day. When we eat foods high in carbohydrates and grease, we will crash in the middle of the day and feel sluggish and run down. Foods that are high in carbs are good for a quick energy rush but you will crash from them. Some people might say that they cannot afford healthy foods and can only buy prepackaged foods at the store. If they spent more time planning, they would find that they could get healthier foods for what they paid for the prepackaged foods which will eventually lead to food wellness.
Following the food pyramid is a great starting point for food wellness. Getting the recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables per day will help you maintain your weight and will help your hair and skin be healthier. They are also easier on the heart and arteries. Eating a diet that is filled with rich foods can cause people to have high cholesterol and artery problems. These foods have been shown to cause plaque build up and this can lead to having a heart attack. It can also cause you to gain weight, which can lead to diabetes. Having food wellness does take a little more planning if you are busy with work and a family, but can be achieved. There are many studies that show how the foods we eat can cause other food wellness issues within our bodies.
Going to the grocery store and picking out the right foods does not have to a mind blowing experience that gets one upset with. There are many convenient foods that you can buy and they are not good for you. You can buy other foods for a good price if you look at the store ad and buy things that are on sale for that week. If you buy snacks for your kids, get them apples and other fruits and vegetables that you can cut up and have on hand for them to eat instead of the cookies and other sugary foods. Teaching kids good eating habits at a young age will stay with them the rest of their lives and you want to start them on a food wellness kick when they are young. Trying to get them to eat healthy as teenagers is like trying to pull teeth on a bear.

A crock pot can be your best friend when it comes to cooking healthy. There are many ways to make sure that you and your family eat healthier. Give up the soda, sugary snacks and fried fatty foods. As moms and dads, we owe it to our children to teach them healthy eating habits.
