How To Create a Home Student Office

Introduction

Creating a home office for a student can be a fun and challenging project. One must make sure that the office is created in a calm and quiet environment. Creating a home office requires the ability to know what you need to operate a successful working area. Do you require a computer desk, office phone or ergonomic chair? These are the type of things that you need to take into consideration before embarking on a project. One also needs to pick an area that has enough space to equip your office needs. For example, one may need space for a printer, scanner and fax machine if these items are required for your home student office.

Step 1

Make a list of all of the important elements for your student office. This requires you to consider all of the things you need. Do you need a high end chair to be comfortable? Do you need a printer/fax combo or will you do with just a laptop? Take out a pen and pad and write down all that you need. Consider all of the things that make you comfortable and place them on a list. Next, consider all of the stores that will have your items easily and at a fair price. Consider browsing the Internet to find out if you can get a better deal elsewhere.

Step 2

Begin making your purchases for your home student office. Take a trip down to the largest department store, such as Walmart or Office Depot. These large retailers usually have discounted prices on a variety of home student office supplies. For example, you would be able to get a cheaper office desk at these stores since they offer "make at home" instead of ready made items. This allows most manufacturers to past down the savings to you. Have a budget in hand to determine what you can or can't afford at the moment in order to get most things on your list.

Step 3

Bring your purchases home and begin reorganizing the office space. Determine where you want to put the office chair, desk and lamps for good lighting. Do you want your desk near the window or do you want it near a shady area? Consider your comfort needs before moving things around. You may also want to consider using Feng Shui techniques to determine how you want to arrange you office space. Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of determining the placement of furniture to balance health, live life and finances. Some people decide to use a professional Feng Shui artist to get this done. Determine what is right for you in your home student office.

Step 4

After you have arranged key pieces of furniture, such as the home student office desk and chair in your home student office, begin placing important electrical equipment in the office. Set up your personal computer, fax, scanner and printer according to the manufacturers directions. Make sure that you have all of the manuals and directions in order to do it right and easily.

Step 5

As soon as you have all of your electrical equipment ready, you are then ready to clean up the area and remove any trash or packaging materials from the home student office area. After removing trash, start by wiping away any dust with a clean, damp cloth.
