Introduction

There are endless ways to work from home online. Many more companies have chosen to outsource to employees and Independent contractors. This has lowered costs of their over head and therefore the company still makes money. This also has allowed them to lower the costs, and prevent them from having to pay out high insurance premiums for employees. To work from home online there are a few things to remember and how you should go about it. 

Step 1

The first thing is never pay out to a company, unless it is for a background and credit check. This is quite common and popular for call center type jobs at home. To work from home online the company has to be more strict with their hiring process and this is why many of them require it. Most of the jobs from home require you to be taking credit card information over the phone. This is why they require the credit and background check. 

Step 2

So the next step is to look for jobs and opportunities to work from home online. There are a few resources out there that do help, but some of the basic companies to look into are Alpine Access, West at Home, Live Ops, Odesk, Textbroker, and Convergys. To be on the safe side you can apply to all of them. This will not prevent your chances from working with them in the future. Live Ops, Odesk, and Textbroker all hire independent contractors, which means you are no paid hourly but by the amount of work you do or time on the phone. This can either hurt or break you. Some independent contractors make 15-20 dollars an hour with sales and commissions that they make from the phone work or bonuses from their client. 

Step 3

The next thing is to be sure that your computer and internet is up to date. You will want to make sure that any information that the company requires that you have that you do. You will want to do this prior to any interview. Most of these companies will only hire you or bring you on to their company if you have the required tools prior to the interview. 

Step 4

The next thing is to set up a home office. Designate some where that you will be working full time or part time. It should be separate from the rest of the home. This can help you stay focused and be able to work more efficiently. You won't have as many distractions as you would if you were to be some where open. Also most of the companies do require you to have a no noise in the background as if you were to be working from the company's actual location or office. Remember just because you work from home online, you want to stay completely focused. 

Step 5

Once you land the job enjoy it. It's quite fun to work from home online. Whether it's writing, or taking calls you have the opportunity to do it from your home. Keep in touch with your supervisor or boss. This will help you with your future endeavor. This can also open doors for you to other job leads and opportunities to work from home online.

Keep it professional at all times. Even if your boss is more lax-ed you should keep your professionalism. 

Stay up to date with requirements and new programs. You can do this by looking and checking the company's website. 

If there is a particular company that you are wanting to work for check their HR department or online if they are looking to hire agents or personnel from home. 

Don't be afraid to take on more than one client at a time as long as you can handle the work flow.
