Introduction

If you are a student in a foreign city and you have no place to stay, then a student home is the answer for you. A student home means a place, in many cases a one bedroom apartment that is situated on the outskirts of a city, and which doesn’t cost you a lot of money. A student home can be a very cheap place to rent, but even so, you will have to develop a way to earn that money and for most people this means to get a part time job so that they still have enough time for going to classes and study.

Step 1

If you have a little cash put aside, then it will be in your best interest to find a student home that is close enough to your university, this way you will save time and you will have more time for learning or relaxing.

Step 2

A student home is often not very stylish, it is not too decorated, only containing the things that every person needs such as a stove, a fridge, minimal furniture and things like that. So do not expect too much comfort when you look for a place to rent. The people who rent these types of apartments are fully aware of the needs that a student has and so, they will not make to many investments in the apartment before they try to rent it. Until you finish your studies and can get a full time job, this is the life style you will have to get used to.

Step 3

A student home can be cheap or expensive for a student depending on the size of the city. The bigger the city, the more money you might pay for a student home. But if you are not a pretentious person, you can look for an apartment that is not situated in the center of the city.

Tips

When you are a student, and you are looking for a student home you should follow some steps before you accommodate yourself in one of these flats.

First search the real estate market to look for the best prices in town. Secondly try to find a map for the city to locate the apartment. The closer to your university, the better it will be for you and your personal time. When you contact the landlord make sure to ask him or her if the apartment has the basic needs for a typical student, meaning a stove, a fridge, a bed that is not broken, a functional shower and some shelves for you to put your books in. After that, go straight to meet with the landlord and after you have seen the apartment and it is ok with you, try to negotiate the rent, a good argument being that you plan to stay there for at least a year or two. Or who knows, if you really like that apartment you could convince the owner that you plan to stay through the entire period of your studies and this may get you a discount to your rent.
