BILLS

We all have bills. They are the regular things that we must pay for every month in order to live comfortably. One of the biggest bills is home electric. Sometimes the bills are much higher than we expect them to be. Electricity costs are going up and up in this economy much the same way every other bill is. Doing some easy things will help to keep an electric bill at a manageable level and save money all around.

Step 1

The first thing to do is to install a new, more efficient, programmable thermostat. The first step in keeping a furnace running better for home electric.

Step 2

Use energy efficient appliances in your home. Energy star appliances are the finest choice. They use around twenty to thirty percent less energy than is federally required. This alone will help the start of saving a good amount of energy in your home and make home electric easier to manage.

Step 3

When you are not using electrical items in your home, turn them off. An appliance such as a clock radio or a coffee maker, vcr, dvd player or computer may be used for their time. However it is better to plug these appliances into a power cord and then turn the power cord off when not using them. Switch an alarm clock to one with a battery powered option instead of using home electric.

Step 4

When doing your laundry it is easy to save on electricity. Simply wash clothes in the washer and then hang dry them outside on a laundry clothesline. It may not be ideal to hang clothes out during all seasons of the year in some climates. However, when the weather is good hang the clothes and you will help to save energy therefore lowering your bill. During the colder or bad weather months, purchase a clothes drying rack or make an inside clothesline. Try to do your laundry all at one time. Use the dryer consistently between loads. A dryer that has the chance to cool down between loads takes longer to heat up therefore, using more energy then is needed for home electric.

Step 5

Check your refrigerator regularly. Clean out the coils on the back of it with a shop vac and also clean underneath the refrigerator. Keeping the appliance clean and free of dust and debris will keep the compressor from running harder. It is important to have a newer model refrigerator because older models do not conserve energy and create a higher electricity bill ultimately which is not good for home electric.

Install ceiling fans in different rooms in the home. Routinely dust off the fans and lights fixtures if the fan has lights. Keeping the fans and fixtures dust free will allow more light to filter through. Use energy efficient light bulbs. Use fluorescent bulbs instead of an energy wasting incandescent bulb. This is very important for home electric.

To help keep the home cooler in hot weather close window shades and use dark curtains also keeping them closed as well. This will help to keep energy costs down because there will be less of a need to run an air conditioner or use central air constantly. Home electric will benefit from all of these things.
