Introduction

These days it is hard to make a decent home cooked meal regularly due to the time constraints that limit people, especially since most have to work for a whole day sometimes miles away from home. This has led to people eating a lot of unhealthy foods they get from fast food restaurants.

Many people don’t even know which foods to avoid as they go about their daily routine. They are busy eating these unhealthy foods not knowing the health risks that are associated with them. Those who are health conscious will be happy to read the list below of foods to avoid as they compromise their health.

Foods to avoid

Potato chips:

Some of the foods to avoid are fast foods which do not only look good or taste good but are also relatively cheaper to access while in a hurry. Although it is difficult to one has to avoid fast foods one of the popular one being potato chips, one has to do so as they contain harmful Trans fats (trans fatty acids) and salt that add extra body fat which are linked to heart related diseases and obesity.

White flour:

The foods to avoid include those that are made primarily from bleached white flour e.g. white breads, muffins, cookies, doughnuts, cake, pastries and pie. These are foods to avoid because they are made with saturated fats and partially hydrogenated oils that are harmful to the body. They are also low in fibre which makes it hard for one to get rid of the residue of their body digestive system.

Foods to Avoid

Red fatty meats:

Most people love red meat and can’t go a day without featuring them in at least one meal in a day. This includes meat from cows, goats and pigs due to their high fat content and cholesterol levels than the body can use. They also contain too much animal protein which damage the kidneys and cause the body to loose calcium. Processed meats should also be avoided since no one knows exactly what is contained in them for sure.

Whole fat dairy products:

Whole fat dairy products are foods to avoid since they have fats and cholesterol which are harmful if taken in large amounts over time. This includes butter, margarine, whole milk, ice cream, cheese and yoghurt, some of which have saturated fats that are harmful to the body.

Tips and comments

Fried seafood:

Seafoods such as prawns, shrimps, lobsters, clams are foods to avoid as they can contain harmful substances such as toxic mercury or parasites that can actually be fatal. Frying them only worsens the risk of ingesting harmful substances in one’s system as it introduces trans fats which are harmful to one’s health.

Poultry and eggs:

Poultry is high in cholesterol, especially the skin which makes it one of the foods to avoid. Eggs are also known to have the highest cholesterol level especially in the egg yolk and should be avoided as they only serve to add cholesterol to your waistline.
