There are different kinds of support jobs namely, customer support and technical support jobs. These jobs are office and field based. In office based support job, the executive has to provide support via phone whereas field based support jobs are those which are carried out at the client’s site. Jobs which are about solving general customer queries are known as customer support jobs whereas jobs in which clients are provided technical expertise are called as technical support jobs.

To find support jobs, first of all make a professional CV with cover letter. Remember the cover letter should be unique for every job you apply and it should not be copied. Always be honest with the details that you supply in your CV. Once you have got the CV and cover letter start posting them on various job portals on the internet. These days all the companies post their jobs on various job portals and job boards on the internet. If you want to apply for jobs than always keep browsing all job portals and job boards for the latest support jobs on offer. For customer and technical support jobs companies also hire freshers with no experience, such candidates are provided on-job training. If you want to get into support job then you should try to take leads through employee of different companies. There is employee referral system in various companies through which senior employees can refer candidates for various jobs. As a candidate for support job, you should track senior employees who can refer you as a candidate in their company.

You can also find support jobs through job consultants. Consultants usually have large number of support openings in customer service and technical support. Never underestimate human resource consultants because they have contact with many companies who give them contract for headhunting talent for their firm. There are many candidates who overlook job consultants and this is the reason why such candidates find it difficult to get support jobs.

Human resources consultancies don’t charge fees from the candidates because they get their consultancy fees from the companies. Consultants may charge small registration fees but the number of interview opportunities they provide is more than worth for the small registration fees that they charge from a candidate.

Always check newspapers, especially those papers in which jobs are published. Make sure to check the classified section in the newspaper because many mid-size companies publish their support jobs in small ads in the job section of classified. You should also check classifieds on the internet which also have job section. Try to take advantage of all the opportunities by constantly checking job openings in the newspapers and classifieds on the internet.

Finding support jobs is easier than finding other types of jobs because these support jobs are hire-and-fire jobs. You have to be perform very well to sustain in this position and it is a 24x7 job which means employees are under great pressure to deliver. For customer service support jobs, you don’t need to be a graduate but you should have excellent communication skill but for technical support job, you need to have technical qualification.
