This song is off Gotye’s third album “Making mirrors that was released in the summer of 2011. This single that features the New Zealand singer-songwriter Kimbra has quickly rose to top the list of top rock songs this year. 3. We are Young – Fun feat Janelle Monae
This song is the single off Fun’s second album ‘Some nights’ where they featured the singer- somgwriter Janelle Monae. ‘We are young’ quickly rose up the top rock songs charts to become the first rock band to lead in the Hot 100 list on its first entry on the charts.
4. Paradise – Coldplay
‘Paradise’ is one of the top rock songs off Coldplay’s fifth album titled ‘Mylo Xyloto which debuted on September 12, 2011. The lead singer Martins is singing about romance in an oppressive environment which is mainly about a girls dashed hopes of paradise. This song quickly rose in the list of top rock songs to top the charts in several countries including UK, Norway, Brazil and Portugal.
5. Satellite – Rise Against
The above song is one of the top rock songs which is off the group’s album titled ‘Hats of to the bull’. Their front man Pete Loeffler explained that the lyrics of the song are all about people who have been taken advantage of, that is all the underdogs.
6. Lonely Boy – Black Keys
This single is off Black keys 7th studio album ‘El Camino’ which was released in 2011 and has become one of the top rock songs in America and other parts of the world too.
7. Don’t Stop (colour on the walls) – Foster the People
The lyrics are sung by the front man Mark foster who is reminiscing about the carefree days of childhood. This is one of the latest top rock songs this year off their album ‘Torches’ which was released in 2011.
8. Bully – Shinedown
This song was released in January 2012 off their fourth studio album titled ‘Amaryllis’. It is also one of the top rock songs which have been enjoying a lot of airplay from the rock fans all over the world. The lyrics address bullying, where by the group encourages those who are being bullied that they are not alone.
