Oklahoma Football refers mostly to the Oklahoma Sooners Football program which is a college football team that represents the University of Oklahoma (variously known as “Oklahoma” or “OU”). But what is so special about this University or about this football program?

About the University of Oklahoma

The University of Oklahoma (OU) is a co-educational public research university from Norman, Oklahoma (United States of America). It is one of the biggest universities in the US. The school, well known for its athletic programs, has won 7 NCAA Division I National Football Championships. Its baseball team has won two NCAA national championships and the women’s softball team won the national championship in 2000. The gymnastics teams have won four national championships since 2002 and its Oklahoma Football program has the best winning percentage of any Division I-FBS team since the introduction of the AP Poll in 1936, playing in four BCS national championship games since the inception of the BCS system in 1998.

Top 10 tips for Oklahoma Football Drill

One of Oklahoma’s specific techniques is the Oklahoma Football Drill. I will describe it for you in the following lines. You get good hits on this drill and it helps first year players break that fear of hitting and being hit.

Between 2 blocking dummies, approximately 5-6 feet apart, you line up 1 offensive and 1 defensive lineman against each other.

You also have 1 player running the ball and 1 backer (LB/CB/FS/SS or whatever) behind the Defense line.

The Offense line has to block the Defense line.

The runner has to get past the backer and Defense line.

The backer has to commit one way or the other.

The runner tells the Offense line where he is going and the Offense line has to block accordingly.

Now, the kicker is, no matter your size or strength, you will be a runner and Offense line and vice versa on the Defense.

That lets the young players see a multitude of looks and how to deal with players of different sizes.

This is a purely physical exercise and there are usually a few bumps and bruises.
