Introduction

Football fever can be referred to as the condition whereby a football player or a dedicated football fan becomes immensely anxious due to the fear of the unknown. The fear of unknown in the football situation is caused by a distressing negative sensation in the affected person which is usually induced by a perceived notion of receiving results that are not satisfactory or the player having doubts about his performance in the game. The fear might also come about as a result of the player being unsure of the reception he will get from fans and team members including the technical bench in the event that he does not deliver the best results in the game. The football fever may affect mostly those players that are thought to be key to the team for they are under a lot of pressure to perform very well in the game.

The player’s body temperature may rise beyond normal before he goes into the field as are a result of fear. That may be noticed by the player starting to sweat a lot all of a sudden without even having done neither exercise that will make his body heat up nor baring symptoms of a disease that may be characterized by abnormally high temperatures.

2. Heightened Excitement
Another way to notice if a player is being faced by football fever is by the player becoming overly excited. If he is not a very talkative person, he will all of a sudden become so talkative and do things that you could have never imagined him doing. You can notice that he are not well by the tone of his voice because it will be raised than when they are not in anxiety. The extreme excitement is normally a reaction that is aimed at covering the fears that the player is facing.

3. Lack of Clear Thought and Speech
The football fever may make the player’s mind interrupted and thus he may look like a confused person when talking. He may not respond to straight forward statements well and he may mumble when he is talking. That is basically because the fear distracts him from thinking clearly.

4. Rapid Heart Rate
The individual’s heart beat rate will be beyond normal due to the rising body temperature. You can establish that by simply placing the palm of your hard on the player’s chest to feel the heavy pounding of the heart at a very fast rate.

5. Trembling
Football fever may cause the player to start trembling. You can easily notice that from his hands, feet, mouth or even sometimes his whole body may be shaking.
