Introduction

Gatwick airport is London’s second largest aviation centre, serving 200 destinations in 90 countries, and experiencing a passenger volume of 30 million on an annual basis. Thus the Gatwick airport is a bustling and busy place to visit. Whilst there you will more than likely need to use the Gatwick airport parking, therefore you will need to acquire some basic information pertaining to these zones.

Step 1

The first mode of parking at Gatwick airport is the long stay parking facility. This type of parking is ideal if your travels will be more than a few days and you wish to park your car in a secured area. There are a few long term parking areas at Gatwick airport, and they are designated by your terminal.

Step 2

For the south terminal the popular long term parking garages are the Long Stay South Terminal or Long Stay plus Gatwick. The long stay south terminal is situated adjunct to the south terminal, and you can either opt to book your parking or turn up on the day of use which will cost you £13. This parking facility is safe and secure as it has security fencing, frequent patrols of the garage and CCTV cameras in operation. There is convenient transfer to this airport parking garage via a courtesy coach, which is in use 24 hours, year round.

The other south terminal airport parking option is the Long Stay Plus. This garage is only open from April till October and is designed for stays longer than 5 days. This parking garage has the same rates and also has the convenience of the courtesy shuttle.

Step 3

If you are departing from the North terminal and require long term parking there are two options you can chose from; Summer Special Parking Gatwick or Gatwick Long Stay North. The summer special parking garage is open year round, and is ideal for anyone who needs parking for a few days. This parking garage works by the patron handing in there keys to the reception, they park your car for you and your presented with a receipt. The parking rates for this garage will vary if you opt to pre-book, but if you book on arrival it will be £13. There is also a courtesy shuttle that will transport you from the terminal to the garage, and vice versa, this takes around 5 minutes travel time.

The other airport long term parking garage is the Long Stay North, which is the closet parking area to the North terminal. There are thorough security measures entrenched in this parking through CCTV cameras, regular patrols and security fences. This parking facility is machine operated, with the patrons needing to take a ticket from a machine and follow signs to the zone indicated.

Step 4

If you only require short term parking the Gatwick airport has this need met with the addition of short term parking garages. These garages are located within close proximity to the terminals for the traveller’s convenience and are CCTV monitored and Park Mark approved so that your car is in a secured environment. The prices begin per quarter with €1 for 15 minutes, £2.80 for 15-30 minutes and £5.60 for 30-60 minutes. After this time has elapsed the charges are hourly. When your car has been there for more than a 24 hour period you will be charged £32.50 for all subsequent 24 hours spent in the parking garage.

Step 5

There are a couple more features of the short term parking garage that you should be aware of. To begin with this parking facility is recommended to be used for picking up passengers from the airport. In the North Terminal there is even a dedicated region for this purpose called the Rapid Pick-Up area, where you can stop for 15 minutes without any charges.

The south terminal has no special assigned area, normal parking and charges apply.
