It also serves almost all countries in North America, including the United States, Canada, Mexico and the most of the Caribbean.

History

Boston Logan International Airport opened in September, 1923. It was used primarily for the Army and other branches of the military. By 1927, the airport began offering commercial flights to and from New York City. Since then, the airport has undergone many different changes, such as a large expansion that took place in the 1940s, when Logan Airport grew by 1,800 acres. From 1994 to 2006, the airport underwent what is known as the "Logan Modernization Project," which saw the addition of a parking garage, hotel, moving walkways, terminal improvements and a new a roadway system that separated departure and arrival traffic.

The airport has also gone through many different names. It started out as simply Boston Airport and later Jeffery Field. In 1943, it was renamed the General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport after a Spanish-American War officer from South Boston. Today, it is known as Boston Logan International Airport.

Boston Logan International Airport has also seen its fair share of struggles. In the 1960s, residents of Boston's Wood Island neighborhood were furious when they were forced to be relocated so that the airport could extend a runway. In 2009, the airline U.S. Airways decided to close its base at Logan airport, which led to the termination of hundreds of employees.
