Introduction

The Paris Airport Charles de Gaulle, also known as the Roissy Airport (or just Roissy in French) is the biggest Paris Airport and one of the world’s principal aviation centers, as well as France’s largest airport. It is named after Charles de Gaulle, leader of the Free French Forces and founder of the French Fifth Republic. The Paris Airport is located 25 km to the north east of Paris. The Paris Airport Charles de Gaulle serves as the principal hub for Air France (the French airplanes company). In the world it is placed as the sixth busiest airport and second busiest European airport (after London’s Heathrow) with a passenger count of over 60 million people and an aircraft movement of over 514 thousand airplanes (found in a statistic from 2011). When you arrive at the airport you are amazed by all sorts of things to see. But let us see which the top five features you must see are.

Roissypôle

Roissypôle is a complex consisting of office buildings, shopping areas, and hotels within Charles de Gaulle Airport. The complex includes the head office of Air France, Continental Square, the Hilton Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and le Dôme building. Le Dôme building includes the office of Air France Consulting.

The play and shopping areas

Like in any other airport, people may need to wait for their airplanes (either because this is a point where they change their flight or because the airplane is running late). This is a very good opportunity to explore the Paris Airport Charles de Gaulle. One can go to the play area. Here you have multiple choices to make due to the diversity of entertainment at your service. If you have children, then you can take them to the Children’s play areas where they will play with all kinds of games in total safety. If you are older of age, you can see the coin-operated games or the consoles in the games areas (mostly any game playable on Playstation 3). If you prefer shopping there is also a vast set of shops available for you to check out.

Architecture and services

If you are waiting for your airplane and have some spare time, feel free to take a walk through the airport and admire its innovative architecture. Designed by Paul Andreu, the Charles de Gaulle Paris Airport has its first terminal built in an avant-garde design of a ten floors high circular building surrounded by seven satellite buildings, each with four gates. Also if you have the spare time and you want just to relax, here in the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport you can go to the relaxation area and benefit from a massage. The “Be Relax” features several massage techniques which are meant to loosen up the stress that a long airplane travel may induce to the human body. There are six different types of massage from which you can choose, each and everyone taking 10, 20, 30 or 90 minutes, depending on your precious time. You can also benefit from facial care treatments also in the airport.
