Introduction

Going on a cruise vacation can be one of the most exciting vacations you can prepare for. A cruise with Celebrity Cruise Line is no exception to this rule. Cruise vacations sometimes take a little extra planning and care because you will be faced with requirements that may be a little different than you have experienced on a typical vacation to the beach or mountains. Here are some useful travel tips for you to put to use when planning your vacation with Celebrity Cruise Line.

Documentation and Items Not Allowed on Celebrity Cruise Ships

Preparing for a cruise vacation requires a bit of planning that may be different than the typical vacation planning that you may have done on the typical vacations you may have taken before. A Celebrity cruise vacation isn’t simply a trip to the beach. Packing your bags is only one of the many things you will need to do and before you do that, there is information you need to know about many things.

First of all, you need to consider your current situation in relation to a passport. If you already have your passport, it cannot have less than 6 months left until your upcoming renewal. If that’s the case then you will need to renew it before your cruise.

You will also need to remember to print the tags that go on your luggage and attach them accordingly. These luggage tags will have information on them that tells the ship you will be boarding, your cruise dates and the stateroom you will be staying in.

In addition to getting all of your documentation in order, you will also need to consider what your wardrobe is going to consist of during your Celebrity cruise vacation. No one can tell you what to pack, as you know what clothing items you have available to you and what you may need to purchase which will most likely depend on the climate of the destination you will be traveling. Since a wardrobe is pretty much common sense depending on your destination choice, you must be made aware of items you are not allowed to bring onboard any ship when you take your Celebrity cruise vacation. According to Celebrity Cruise Line website at www.celebritycruises.com, items that are not allowed onboard any Celebrity cruise ship are listed as follows:

• Firearms & Ammunition, including realistic replicas
• Sharp Objects, including knives and scissors
• Illegal Drugs & Substances
• Candles & Incense
• Coffee Makers, Clothes Irons, & Hot Plates
• Baseball Bats, Hockey Sticks, Cricket Bats, Bows and Arrows
• Skateboards & Surfboards
• Martial Arts Gear
• Self-Defense Gear, including handcuffs, pepper spray and night sticks
• Flammable Liquids and Explosives, including lighter fluid and fireworks
• HAM Radios
• Dangerous Chemicals, including bleach and paint
• Alcoholic Beverages

There are some slight exceptions to this list in that you may take things like safety razors for shaving purposes and scissors with blades that do not exceed 4 inches in length.

You are allowed to bring wine not to exceed 2 bottles per stateroom which will be allowed on embarkation day, but keep in mind that you can be charged a corkage fee for those bottles.

Special Needs and Embarkation Details

Now that you know some important information about passport rules and what not to bring, let’s look at what you need to know about taking Celebrity cruise vacations if you are a passenger with a disability or a medical issue.

Celebrity Cruise Line doesn’t need to know each and every detail of your disability or illness, but they do need to know certain things in order to accommodate any special needs you may have while on your vacation.

Your best bet is to make the cruise line aware of any special need of any passenger when you book, but you will need to give at least a 60 day advance notice if any passenger in your party needs a sign language interpreter during the cruise. You will also need to give a notice of at least 30 days prior to sailing if any passenger needs special equipment or services. With advance notice, Celebrity Cruise Lines can provide equipment and services such as:

  • Services for interpreting sign language
  • Delivery of needed medical supplies
  • Large print materials
  • Refrigerator for medication storage
  • Braille materials
  • Shower stools
  • Commode chairs
  • Raised toilet seat
  • Relief area for service animal
  • Distilled water

Those are some of the special items that could be required by passengers’ special needs on Celebrity cruise vacations.

Last but not least, let’s look at some basic information about embarkation of the ships when you choose Celebrity cruise vacations. In order to be in compliance, each passenger must:

  • Confirm your boarding and departure times
  • Arrive on time
  • You may check in ahead of time using the online check in feature
  • You must check in at least 90 minutes in advance or risk cancellation
  • You may not bring visitors aboard any ship in any port
  • Valid passport is recommended
