History
Newport is a city that belongs to the state of Rhode Island, United States. Founded in 1639, Newport has been tagged as “America’s first resort”. In terms of climate, Newport is generally cool and humid. The temperature is known to have gone as down as -31oC in 1942. If you want to go on a drive during your vacations Newport has a 10 mile drive, or what is now more commonly known as the Ocean Drive. The Ocean Drive is a reference to a drive on a road that is exactly ten miles long and is beautifully flanked by mansions and amazing views, including the most breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean. And of course if you are a big fan of history and admire classic works of the past, then you should absolutely visit the Newport Mansions that are known to be built by great architects of the 19th and 20th centuries. Much like the Ocean Drive is the Cliff Walk, except this time you get to walk rather than drive. The Cliff Walk is basically the back side of some of the Newport mansions, again, one with magnificent views and a total length of 3.5 miles. Then naturally there is the Newport Beach, crowded with happy faces that will put a smile on yours too.
