The town got the name corolla in 1895 after a post office was opened in the community. The name means petals of a flower which is derived from a botanic term meaning the same thing. The development actually started in 1967 when investors from Virginia started coming in to purchase the undeveloped land. The first dissected land was Carova which had 1993 lots, they were purchased for an amount of $8000 of 2006, and today these are worth of $500,000.
