The fare for your car carriage is already included in the Auto train ticket so the next time you are in D.C you do not have to worry about shopping limits. You can carry as much as you want or at least as much as you can stuff your car with. Yes, Amtrak really knows how to make your train vacations memorable. The one drawback about the whole deal is that you might have to wait a while before you can get your car back at the arriving station. There is usually a line that you have got to queue in for getting your car back.

Passengers have the choice of either riding in coach or their very own private sleeping car, and you can enjoy the ride in any of the fine dining cars or the lounge cars. The Amtrak train also allows smoking while on the trip. The train operates everyday and by 2.30 pm you will be able to board the carrier cars. You will probably get dinner by 8.30, as it is included in the ticket price, and might I say it is delicious. They also serve breakfast from 6 am to 8 am (not included in ticket price).
