Introduction
Kona is a district on the big island of Hawaii that is divided into two districts; the north Kona district and the south Kona district. The other towns of Kona are called Kealakekua, Keauhou, Holualoa, Honaunau and Honalo. The word Kona means the leeward or the drier side of the island. The pacific anticyclone area provides the most the winds to the Hawaiian Islands, which results in rain and winds. The winds lose their moisture as they start travelling on the leeward side, however, as the pattern reverses it can produce a Kona storm from the western side. History
