Type one Diabetes, also known as insulin-dependant diabetes

This type of diabetes destroys the beta cells in your pancreas, and your immune system in your body is destroying these cells. These beta cells are responsible for producing insulin. It is commonly known as an auto-immune disease, which can be found in 10 to 15% of all diabetes patients. Any age is under threat of this disease, but it is more common with people under the age of 40. It cans be caused by chemicals, your diet, viruses and through genetics. A very careful diet has to be followed and people with this type of diabetes has to inject themselves with insulin regularly - usually a few times per day.

Type 2 (Non-insulin dependent) diabetes

This is known as the most common type of diabetes. It cans be found in more than 85% of all people with diabetes. It is also known as late-onset diabetes and it has a genetic origin usually. Also people with weight problems, who do not exercise enough, has high blood pressure and has a poor diet, are at risk. The symptoms for this type of diabetes do not always show immediately, and when it is diagnosed, some serious problems might have developed already. You may be able to treat this diabetes by changing your diet, taking tablets and being more active through exercising.

GDM or Gestational diabetes mellitus

This type of diabetes can be diagnosed for the first time when a woman is pregnant, and results show that between 6 to 9% of women develop GDM when they are pregnant. Through a glucose tolerant test when a woman is pregnant, it is possible to diagnose the diabetes. With this diabetes type your family diabetes history plays a huge role. Also, obesity and an increased maternal age contributes to the risk as well. Caring for yourself  through following a disciplined diet is an excellent way to treat this diabetes.

Conclusion
