Any age is under threat of this disease, but it is more common with people under the age of 40. It cans be caused by chemicals, your diet, viruses and through genetics. A very careful diet has to be followed and people with this type of diabetes has to inject themselves with insulin regularly - usually a few times per day.

You may be able to treat this diabetes by changing your diet, taking tablets and being more active through exercising.

GDM or Gestational diabetes mellitus

This type of diabetes can be diagnosed for the first time when a woman is pregnant, and results show that between 6 to 9% of women develop GDM when they are pregnant. Through a glucose tolerant test when a woman is pregnant, it is possible to diagnose the diabetes. With this diabetes type your family diabetes history plays a huge role. Also, obesity and an increased maternal age contributes to the risk as well. Caring for yourself  through following a disciplined diet is an excellent way to treat this diabetes.
