There are things about the body that some people do not like to talk about and one of those conditions is hemorrhoids or piles disease. Piles are veins that are around the anus that can get inflamed from being constipated. Sometimes they can itch, burn or even bleed. If you have a mild case piles disease, there are some things that you can do at home to help relieve your symptoms and help them shrink back up. If they persist or get worse, you can go to the doctor and discuss with him having surgery to get rid of them. If you have surgery to get rid of your piles disease, there are things to remember so you can avoid going through the misery again.

Step 1

The first thing to do is try to avoid becoming constipated. This can cause piles disease to flare up causing you pain, itching and discomfort. You can avoid getting constipated by eating a diet that is rich in fiber. Fiber can be found in most fruits and vegetables. Make sure that you are also staying hydrated. Being hydrated also helps to avoid constipation.

Step 2

Getting some form of exercise every day can also help you to avoid piles disease. If does not have to be strenuous exercise, it could be a stroll around the block after dinner at night time. You could also exercise at home for 15 minutes a day to help with your piles disease.

Step 3

If you have to go to the bathroom, by all means go. There is no reason for you to put off having to go. This is true even if you are at work. It is a natural part of life to have a bowel movement and it can stop you from becoming constipated.

Step 4

After having a bowel movement it is advised that you gently clean the area with warm soap and water. If you are at work, it could be an issue washing with soap and water, but there are many commercial wipes on the market today for adults. These are great for cleaning around a tender area. It can also help you if you suffer from piles disease.

Step 5

Soaking in warm sitz bath is also very soothing to piles disease. Using aloe gel will also help to cool the piles. You can also buy an over the counter cream to put on piles. Only use the amount that is stated on the instructions.

Step 6

Pregnant women end up with piles disease because of the extra weight from the baby that they have in the genital area. This can add to the discomfort that one has from being pregnant. A pregnant woman has to up her water intake even more and should eat more fiber rich foods to avoid becoming constipated. Taking vitamins or having to take an iron supplement can make constipation even worse. If you have an issue, talk to your doctor he can give you great advice.

If you are having a lot of discomfort or bleeding, it is time to see your doctor about what can be done. There are many procedures today that can be done to treat piles disease. If you have tried any of the remedies and they do not work, something else could be going on.
