Arthritis diseases can be a very serious issue in some people. However, arthritis is not life threatening but there are ways to prevent getting arthritis diseases. Many people believe that arthritis diseases only effect those who are 65 and older but that's just not the case. In fact, half of the people with arthritis are under the age of 65.

Exercise Daily: Exercising can help prevent arthritis diseases because exercising is one of the main ways you can help strengthen your muscles and joints, in turn helping increase your bone density. Increased bone density can help ward off osteoporosis.

Avoiding Smoking: We all know being smoke free is beneficial to our health for many reasons but staying away from smoking can also help prevent arthritis diseases. Smoking can weaken your internal bone structure, making it easier for you to get an arthritis disease.

A Tip Especially For Women

If you're a woman and are postmenopausal, it is suggested that you speak with your doctor about hormone replacement therapy (HRT). In studies, women tend to lose a lot of their bone mass during the pre- and post menopausal years. This happens when the body stops producing estrogen, which helps maintain bone mass in women. Post menopausal women have a higher risk of developing arthritis diseases because of this.

It is also imperative that if you feel you have arthritis or feel a lot of pain in your muscles and joints, that you make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible so you can be treated for the pain you're experiencing. In order to prevent arthritis diseases, it really all comes down to taking good care of yourself. If you follow the above suggestions, you will lessen your chances of getting arthritis. Arthritis should not be taken lightly as it can be painful and cause severe discomfort in those who have it.
