Introduction

Nerves are like the wires of a conducting system in body. It takes away electrochemical nervous pulses. These can be a part of central nervous system or of peripheral system and the nerves diseases are accordingly. These are a part of soft tissue of body and are recognized by specific symptoms of nervous tissue. Nerves are classified into three groups based on the signals directions that are conducted:

  • Some afferent nerves conduct signals towards the central nervous system from the sensory organs, for example any kind of receptors in skin.
  • The second kind is efferent nerves conduct signals from the central nervous system via motor neurons to their target worker such as muscles and glands.
  • Mixed nerves those have both afferent and efferent axons, and thus conduct both way signals.

History

Presentation of nerves diseases:

Damage causes nerves diseases by any kind of physical injury or swelling, autoimmune diseases, infection, diabetes or failure of the blood supply to nerve. Pinched nerves diseases occur when is under a pressure, usually it swells due to the injury as is even seen in pregnancy. Nerves diseases are usually symptomized and accompanied by pain, numbness, weakness, or paralysis in the body generally or at a focal. Patients may feel these symptoms in areas far from the actual site of damage in some kind of nerves diseases, due to a phenomenon called referred pain e.g., sore throat causes pain in ear too. Reason for referred pain is when a nerve is damaged; signaling gets defective from all parts of the area from which the nerve receives input signals, not just that only original site of the damage.

Features

Diagnosing nerves diseases:
Autonomic nerves diseases are recognized and diagnosed by the symptoms such as inability to sense chest pain, such as angina or heart attack, too much sweating or too little sweating, lightheadedness, dry eyes and mouth, bladder and bowel dysfunction, sexual dysfunction etc. while the diagnosis of nerves diseases by a physical examination is done in the clinics which includes the reflex testing, walking and other kinds of movements, muscle tone, power or weakness, perception of touch and temperature, and the sense of touch. This kind of examination can be followed with better tests such as nerve conduction studies and electromyography (EMG).

Tips and comments

Major Kind of nerves diseases:
Degenerative nerves diseases cause worsening of many of your body's activities, including balance, movement, talking, breathing and heart function. Many of these nerves diseases have causes like genetic, which mean that they could run through and through in families or one gets mutation. Like many other medical conditions nerves diseases are known to result from alcoholism, cancer or a stroke. Toxins, chemicals or viruses also are known to cause nerves disease.
Examples of degenerative nerves diseases include:

  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
  • Fried Reich’s ataxia
  • Huntington's disease
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Spinal muscular atrophy

Degenerative nerve diseases are life-threatening but it does depend on the type. Most of these nerves diseases have no cure. The treatment is usually for improve symptoms, relieve pain and increase mobility.
