Information About Mutation in Diseases

Introduction

Mutation is a general concept that encompasses changes that occur in a genomic sequence; meaning the DNA sequence of a cell’s genome or the RNA sequence of a virus. Despite of the diseases mutation that are inherited, there are as well those diseases mutation that occur due to radiation one is expose to, due to viruses , or even due to some fatal errors that occur during DNA replications.

Diseases mutation consequences

While in order to function properly each cell depends on thousands of proteins that help them do their jobs, the diseases mutation will impede one or two proteins to work properly. Mere by changing the gene’s instructions, a mutation can cause the protein to mal function. This can result in creating a serious medical condition, disrupting the normal development of the body and causing one of the diseases mutation. There is no such way as a bare gene to cause disorder, but the mutations are those that cause the bad effects, as they are those that are life incompatible.

Genetic disorders

Despite of the fact that the name almost says it all, one does not even know the smallest part of it. The genetic disorders have existed before as well, but nowadays it seems that they are covering the entire world. They are problems cause by the mutation of a gene. These can as well be passed from one parent to one child. However, how the child’s body receive this disorder and how will it develop in him, depends on various factors; like the patterns of inheritance. In getting to the bottom of diseases mutation one may suffer from, it is essential to know whether the disease occurs with one or two copies of the mutated gene or whether the mutation is just on one of the sex chromosomes or one of the autosomes. Anyhow, in getting to the bottom of what disorder you may be suffering from is essential for the future of yourself and of others around you.

Causes of the gene’s disorders

Despite of the general opinions, not all the genes mutations cause negative effects to the health and the development of a human being. Therefore, just a small percentage of these disorders and mutation, can cause genetic disorders. Among these, there are the mutations that have no impact on health and on development, however. This is mainly due to the fact that some of these mutations do not change the function of the protein made by the gene.

Another cause is the fact that while gene mutations occur, there are the enzymes that are there and repair what gene mutations cause, before the gene is expressed. This is how our bodies represent a protective shield against many factors and as long as we have the necessary tools to fight, small negative changes will occur to our DNA. DNA is vulnerable to damage and mutation in many ways, but at the same time, the DNA repair is a process that the body deals by itself. However, there are mutations that have a positive effect as well. These are the mutations that will offer the body, the necessary tools to get adapted to the changes that may occur in the environment.
