Human Viruses Cause Diseases in Animals

Human viruses cause diseases in animals in many cases and many of the human viruses have come from other species of animals like Ebola, encephalitis, SARS, AIDS etc. But is there a process in which virus diseases are transferred from human to animals. The following are various animal diseases that are contracted from humans. Mumps virus can cause dog’s parotiditis. Corynebacterium diphtheria can cause diseases in cattle mastitis and furunculosis and streptococcus pyogenes can cause cattle mastitis. Influenza virus can cause many respiratory illnesses in the case of ferrets and pet rabbits. Brucella melitensis is infected from human urine that adversely affects sheeps and goats.

Human viruses that spread to animals

Human viruses that spread to animals includes influenza virus which can create respiratory diseases in pet ferrets and rabbits. There are other kinds like salmonella which causes the disease to pet and farm animals. Another virus, named Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) which is a Methicillin-resistant has been found in animals which are accompanied like cats and dogs. Mycobacterium tuberculosis is another virus type which infects many species of animals especially the dogs, deer and elephants. Many human virus diseases which are infectious are carried often to nonhuman primates mainly the measles and viral infections which are caused by human respiratory problems.

Clinical signs and treatment of viruses

Clinical signs and treatment of viruses can help to identify the actual diseases and getting treated for that. Antibiotics can be used for those suffering from Brucella melitensis and the main clinical signs of cattle that are infected with Brucella virus are high chances of abortions and arthritic joints. In case of dogs it mainly affects the genital part and it can spread to other parts like kidney, eye and vertebral disc. The bacteria that cause salmonella can live for more weeks in dry weather and for months while in water and they are mostly found in polluted or contaminated water. Many elephants are treated because of TB, a few number of the elephants treated twice. TB effected elephants through human shows that human viruses that can spread to animals and cause diseases and a drug used by human for TB can be used in the case of TB effected elephants. The length of the treatment commonly is one year more than in humans.

Precautions against spreading human viruses

Precautions against spreading human viruses are an important matter to prevent these types of diseases. Hygiene should be maintained near the pets and significant care should be taken and not to be worried about these diseases which are known as reverse as zoonoses (diseases that animals can get from humans). Normal hygiene facts like washing hands are to be done after playing with your pets and prior to taking food. This will reduce the probability of getting any of these reverse zoonozis diseases (diseases being passed from humans to your animals). There is research happening right now that indicates that the pet owners are fitter than the non-pet owning persons.
