The prevention program may include regular periodic evaluation of your legs, exercises to increase blood circulation, stockings to support your legs and also appropriate medication to make your blood thin.

Implant Fracture

There are several patients in whom implant fracture has been reported post knee surgery. The reasons for this can be various including patients who have high expectations about the performance of their legs, heavy or overweight patients or physically highly active patients. These category of patients should be very careful and to minimize the chances of reducing implant fractures they should follow the medical instruction properly and to avoid unwanted exercises and inappropriate activities.

Osteolysis

Osteolysis is the situation when the when the bone adjacent to the knee implant may break down because of the body’s reactions to various particles. This situation can happen due to the direct contact of the metal and the plastic components, contact between knee components and bone cement, contact between knee component and the natural bone particles that lies between knees moving parts that can add to more damage to the components of implant or knee surgery.
