Introduction

Cocktail parties can be a fun event to attend. You get an opportunity to dress up and enjoy different cocktails as well as bite size food (intended to be snacks, not necessarily bite sized). Attending is fun, hosting is an entire different story. The hosting of a party can indeed be extremely fun for someone who loves to play host, but for someone who does not know the first thing about it, it can be quite the hassle. But this hassle can be greatly reduced by planning ahead and then simply following a set of instructions you have laid out for yourself in your plan. If you plan ahead, you know what to expect and thus you can be relaxed during the party itself and just make sure everything is following the schedule you have set out.

History

The hosting of a cocktail party employs various aspects of party throwing that a frequent host would have on his or her finger tips. Cocktail parties have a history. Mrs. Julius S. Walsh Jr. is said to have invented the cocktail party by inviting around high noon on a Sunday for an hour, the idea was an instant hit and spread very fast. The first cocktail party was hosted by Christopher Nevinson in 1924. The word cocktail traces its origins to England and a cocktail is basically a drink with two or more ingredients of which one must be a spirit and the rest can vary to ones imagination and taste. Despite the definition, a cocktail is modernly used to define a drink which contains a mixture of drinks. Modern twists are one thing, but when the hosting of traditional parties is done, it is best to preserve the originality of the occasion as much as possible.

Features

There are certain things required in the hosting of a good cocktail party. First and foremost are the cocktails themselves, which are the star of the party. In order to make a good cocktail, you need to be aware of what are good mixtures of drinks. Incase this is something you are not so confident you can do, do not be afraid; you can hire a bartender or a chef to do it for you. Depending on your budget, you can hire both and have your bartender make your cocktails and a chef your snacks or a chef to do both. Once this main aspect of the party has been handled next comes the décor. Cocktails parties have their own dress code and are a somewhat formal, though short affair. Nonetheless you need tables for the guests. Hosting of cocktail parties is not that difficult mainly because they are not intended to be very long affairs.
