How To Find An Mp3 Directory

Introduction

Finding an mp3 file in an mp3 directory can be challenging when you have thousands of files. It’s not easy to remember all files and everything you have, that is why using Windows Search can be very helpful. After you activate it, the application can find anything you want because it can search all your files and folders or you can set it to search in a specific mp3 directory. Below are the 5 steps on how to search your hard drive and find a specific file for an mp3 directory.

Step 1

Step 1: Open My Computer. You can find it in the Windows Start Menu by clicking the Windows Orb in the bottom left corner of your screen (also known as Start Menu). If you have a desktop shortcut, you can double click it. Either way, the Windows Explorer will pop up.

Step 2

Step 2: In the top right corner of Windows Explorer there’s a small box called Search Computer. If you have a newer Windows version, after typing “mp3” in the box, the Explorer window will begin to search for the keyword automatically. If it doesn’t start, press enter or click the small icon on the right. If the file you are looking for is located in an mp3 directory, the search function will find it.

Step 3

Step 3: If you want to have a better view of the files you found, you can click on Change Your View by selecting Details. The drop down list is usually located at the top right corner of the window, under Search. You will notice that the mp3 directory displayed all files containing the keyword “mp3”. The button is located on the toolbar, next to the Help button (it is usually marked with a question mark) and the Show the Preview Pane button.

Step 4

Step 4: Activate the Folder setting by right clicking the Name column header. Here you’ll se other options like Type, Size or Title.

Step 5

Step 5: Click on the column header called Folders to sort your files in an ascending or descending order. If you have a specific file in an mp3 directory, the sorting can help you find it faster. You can also click on the Name column header if you want a specific mp3. All sorting is done alphabetically and you can see all files and folders that contain the keyword “mp3”.

You can use the Windows Search function to find files other than an mp3 directory. The best thing about it is that it searches automatically and it is very fast. Even if you have a large mp3 directory, it will take under a minute to find what you need. You can try searching for something else to compare results. This depends of course on the type of your computer and Windows version you are using. For example, Windows 7 is much better than Windows XP and the search takes less. That is because Windows 7 has better features and it has been dramatically improved. Plus, all you need to do is type the keyword and the search function does everything for you to search that mp3 directory.
