Introduction

Successful planning is key to having fun birthday parties. Begin planning your party at least a month in advance. This will give you the time you need to make complete arrangements for fun birthday parties. Make lists of the items that you need, guests you plan to invite and food you will be serving at the party. Once your party has been planned, you will be ready to organize it on the day of the party.

Planning

Party Theme

Choose a theme for your party. If you are throwing fun birthday parties for kids, allow the kids to pick the theme of the party. They may choose to go with the them of a favorite sport, hobbies, cartoon character or movies. If you are planning the party for teenagers or adults, you may want to stick with a specific color theme. You can also choose to go with party themes that relate to the season or holiday. People who have birthdays in December may choose a Christmas theme party.

Venue

Choose a venue for your party. Consider the amount of people you plan to invite and choose a venue large enough to accommodate everyone. Restaurants, community building and hotel meeting rooms are great places to host fun birthday parties. They are often large and easy to decorate and can be rented for a cheap price.

Food

Plan out the types of food you want to serve at your party. Traditional food items served at fun birthday parties include cake, ice cream, chips and drinks. If you want to serve meals, you can do that as well. If you are having the party outside, consider grilling out. Hotdogs and hamburgers are fast and easy to prepare on the grill and are inexpensive. They are also a popular food choice among people of all ages.

Invitations

Purchase or make invitations to send out for fun birthday parties. You can make your own invitations on your computer or purchase them from a party supply store. Choose invitations that match the theme of the birthday party. You can also choose plain colors and patterns to go with a variety of themes. Send your invitations out at least two weeks before the fun birthday parties to make sure all guests receive them in time.

Organizing

Decorating

Decorations are what make fun birthday parties more exciting. Typical decorating include tablecloths, streamers, balloons and centerpieces. Drape streamer across the ceiling or dangle them down the walls. Fill balloons with helium to make them float on the ceiling or simply inflate them yourself and tie or tape them to chair and tables. You can also scatter them on the floor. Use colored tablecloths to make tables more appealing. If you purchased other decorations from your local party supply store, use them accordingly.

Making Use of the Space

Organize the room to make the most of the space you have. Place tables on one side of the room that can be used for food, arrange another table towards the front of the room where the guest of honor will set and open gifts. Arrange tables for guests in rows or place them on the opposite wall. Keep an area clear for games and activities that often take place at fun birthday parties.

Organizing Tables

Organize the seating area with name tags so guest will know where they should set. Organize the food table by placing the plates, cups and cutlery at the beginning of the food line. This way guests can grab these items before getting their food. Keep the cake or dessert table separate from other food tables so guest will know it is going to be served at a later time.

Tips and comments

Arrive at the venue early to decorate and organize the area.

Prepare food items the night before the party so you will have less to do on the day of the party.
