Introduction

RAM (Random Access Memory) is usually neglected when buying a new laptop, only regretting the underpowered memory a system has after purchased. The memory a system runs can go a long way making your laptop perform better and with more stability.

Here are 5 ways to upgrade the hardware of your machine:

Step 1

Know the purpose of the undertaking. It is very important to identify first the need of the user before we can immediately jump into upgrading the memory a laptop has installed. Defining the problem clearly improves focus and directs us to giving the right solution to the issue raised by the user.

Step 2

Know what kind of memory installed in your laptop. You are probably wondering how many open slots your laptop have, what type of memory a system composed of and what to buy to upgrade without opening your system. There couple of options in detecting the type of memory already installed in your laptop system. You can use the system information windows and crucial memory advisor. They will give you useful information about what your computer can support.

Step 3

Identifying and buying your new RAM (Radom Access Memory). Not all mother boards have the same specific requirement for RAM. Often you can install varieties of RAM but the experts do not recommend it. It could just result to decrease of performance. If possible to install the memory a laptop’s motherboard best choice and meets the requirement, such as timing, voltage, maximum supported memory, speed/data Rate, number of pins, maximum supported memory per DIMM Slot.

Step 4

For some, brand of RAM (Random Access Memory) do really matters and depending on the memory a system use that includes speed rate, a stick may have few or more pins and notches in different location. It is very important to take note of this RAM specification because a motherboard is only going to take RAM with only one kind of pin count. If you happen to take it for granted and force the memory in, then it will probably end your laptop

Step 5

Protect the components of the computer from damaged caused by ESD (Electrostatic Discharge). Conformed to the Occupational Health and Safety Procedure and Practices, to correctly use personal protective equipment and take the necessary precautions to eliminate risk. Always put in mind that never holds the components by the edges, especially the IC’s and do not use excessive force if things do not slip into place.

Tips

Installing RAM (Random Access Memory) in your laptop. Most of the memory a machine main board has installed the same way (Random Access Memory). Assuming you have opened the laptop already, you won’t need any tools but your bare hands in removing the stick memory from a DIMM slot , gently push down the tab on both side with a little pressure but do not force it. Always remember that the memory a machine have is very sensitive to static shock. The memory will pop up freely from the slot and if not, just gently move it back and forth to remove it. With the DIMM slop open, pressed on firmly the outside of the stick to install it and the RAM will actually begin to snap the DIMM slot tabs shut, locking the new one in place.

And that is pretty much of the techniques and best practices for installing new RAM! The same procedure will be used no matter what device you install into the machine.
