How To Upload Pictures From a Memory Flash Card

Introduction

Memory Flash Card is a storage device used for storage purposes. Memory many computers have a slot for connecting a Memory Flash Card and you can buy an adapter for your memory card so that they card fit into those slot. After you install an adopter software (with the help of instructions that came with the adopter software), uploading pictures your memory flash is a snap. Some of the common memory cards include the SD card, CF card, xD-picture card and memory card.

Step 1

The first thing to do is put your Memory Flash Card in the PC card adapter. Access your memory card using the PC card adapter. Note that this should be done with a lot of caution as the memory card can easily get damaged if a lot of force is used.

Step 2

The other thing is inserting your PC card adapter with your Memory Flash Card in it into your laptop’s PC card slot. Your computer will notice something plugged in and take steps to recognize the Memory Flush Card and all the files in it will also be seen on your computer.

Step 3

After inserting the card adapter, open your computers system folder and then open the drive for the Memory Flash Card. Then open the folder which contains pictures the computer will most likely display thumbnails of some pictures that you’ll have taken recently and even earlier using your digital camera or camera phone.

This is followed by opening the folder in that you want to transfer your picture files into, although you can transfer them straight into your computer desktop. This folder could be created by right clicking on your desktop or my documents (depending on where you want to create your folder) and give it a name like my pictures.

Step 5

Then, drag and drop the pictures in your Memory Flash Card folder into the folder you created or on your desktop or alternatively you can go to the Memory Flash Card right click on the folder that contains the pictures and then select send. You can as well open the folder that contains the pictures, highlight all of them right click then copy, go to the folder you want to move the pictures to right click then paste.

Tips

It is good to note that memory cards may get damaged for some reasons during power shortage, removal of the memory card during photo shootout this is usually followed by error messages like “memory card error” or “card error”. In such cases it is highly recommended that you stop further operations on the memory card for example taking more photos, deleting photos or formatting the memory card data recovery software like card recovery are able to recover the photos. To avoid memory error and damage:

  • Use memory cards from big brands like such as SanDisk, Panasonic, Sony, Kingston and many more.
  • Memory cards have a finite lifespan. A typical Flash Memory Card unit has approximately 10,000 write or erase operations. So it is better to throw away flash discs that have been used frequently for many years.
