The Secure Digital High Capacity (Sdhc) is a format that is supporting cards with capacities of up to 32 GB. Even if the memory sdhc card has almost the same physical and electrical features as the standard SD cards, there have been registered some compatibility issues with their redefinition.

Therefore installing a memory sdhc card can sometimes be a little tricky. If you have a memory sdhc card and you want to use it on your device, no matter this is a phone mobile, a computer or a play station, here are some step by step instructions for installing it.

Step 1

Make sure you have everything you need

A double check is required if you want to perform the installation of the memory sdhc card. Check if you have all that is required. The check list will have to contain the following: the memory sdhc card, card adapter or a card reader, a phone mobile supporting sdhc memory cards or a PC running on Windows XP or Vista, and a connection to the internet. The Windows program must have installed the latest updates.

Step 2

For example, when this has to be inserted in a mobile phone, make sure this is inserted at his place, and that the slot is locked after. Some mobile devices are requiring to remove the battery cover and to pull out the battery first. If you want to use the card on a PC, make sure you have a card adapter or a compatible card reader.

Step 3

In order to be able to use the memory sdhc card, you will have to download and install the latest sdhc software. In general the software is update often, so you need to make sure you have the right version. There are many reasons, including legal ones, for which the memory sdhc cards are not supplied with the software, and therefore you need to get the latest version to download.

Step 4

Setting up the sdhc memory card

If the memory sdhc card is inserted in a PC, the Windows will give the instructions to be followed. After the sdhc card is inserted in the card reader or the adapter, the computer should be prompted to be used. You can either open to view files or folders, or to copy new files.

Step 5

Start using the SDHC memory card

The files and folders can be copied from and to the memory sdhc card using the copy and paste functions, as in the case of traditional memory cards. It is very important to remember when removing the memory card from the device to choose the option “safely remove the device”.

Tip

In general these memory cards are coming with a redefined interface, in order not to be used in older host devices.
