Introduction

New printers usually have a new ink cartridge which prints brightly and clearly, but with time, the colours fade before the ink cartridge stops producing any ink. One could always opt to purchase a new ink cartridge, but these tend to be quite expensive. The other option is to purchase printer cartridge ink in order to refill these cartridges by yourself.

Step 1

The first thing that you should do is to buy the full kit that includes the printer cartridge ink from a local supplies store. After this, you should ensure that you have things such as paper towels and scotch tape, as this will help you work. The next thing that you should do is to open your printer and get out the cartridges that needs refilling using the printer cartridge ink.

Step 2

It is advisable that when you are refilling a printer cartridge, you should wear gloves as printer cartridge ink can be quite messy and you may end up dirtying your hands while refilling. Place the paper towel on your working surface and put the empty ink cartridge on top of it.

Step 3

It is important to also read the instructions on the refill kit carefully in order to ensure that you do not end up creating a bigger mess by refilling wrong. After you are sure that you know the details on how to refill the cartridge with printer cartridge ink, you can find out where the refilling holes are by moving your hands on top of the cartridge label in search of a depression. After you have found the depression, create a hole using a sharp object or remove the label using a knife.

Step 4

Most printers usually have two cartridges, one with black ink and another one with the three colors, namely magenta, cyan and yellow. It is important to read the instructions carefully in order to determine which hole exactly is for any of the colors, because if you put the ink in the wrong hole, then you cartridge will not work properly.

Step 5

The next thing that you need to do is to push the needle deep into the ink cartridge. Add the ink while ensuring that you do not push any air into the cartridge as this will make the ink not to reach the head of the cartridge, meaning that you will be unable to print properly.

Tips

When refilling a cartridge using printer cartridge ink, it is important to always check in order to ensure that you do not add too much ink, as it will overfill and the excess ink may pour onto the paper while printing.

The minute you see printer cartridge ink oozing out of the cartridge, stop adding more ink, and instead suck some back before finishing. Use the paper towel to pat the contact points of the cartridge in order to remove excessive ink. The scotch tape can be used to cover the holes, but ensure that printer cartridge ink is not coming out of these holes. This should be done for each printer cartridge ink color that you would like to refill into your cartridges. Lastly, put the cartridge back and try to print anything in order to ensure that the ink is flowing.
