Introduction

Cancer is one of the most deadly diseases in human history. Cancer is known as the silent killer since it might be growing inside the human body without an apparent sign or symptom. For a person with last stage cancer, this can cause a lot of disappointment and depression. Cancer is indeed curable but its early diagnosis is the key to its successful termination. As the cancer progresses to its later stages the cure and treatment both become complex and hard. Same is the case with lung cancer. It is characterized by excessive growth of cells in our lungs that if left unchecked or not found in time can grow into other organs of our body. One type of lung cancer is the small lung cell cancer. This type of cancer is also called or known as oat cell cancer. The small lung cell cancer is treatable and many have lived to see themselves fully cured.

History

The earliest form of cancer is said to have been found in the Egyptians. The archaeological find suggested from the papyrus extracted that the Egyptians were able to identify malignant tumors from benign ones. It is also said that Greeks were aware of tumors that caused disease and deaths. The small lung cell cancer gained prominence after the connection of smoking and other particles that when breathed in established an increase in the chances of cancer occurring in the body.

The symptoms of small lung cell cancer are different from other types of cancer. Some may be just a temporary health problem associated with your habits and lifestyle. The most common symptom of lung cancer is that outset of regular coughing which cannot be associated with anything. If you are a regular or heavy smoker and can't stop yourself, you should try to get an appointment or try various techniques to relinquish your habit. Another common symptom is excessive or unexplained weight loss along with bone pain. If a person observes that they are losing their weight too fast and without any reason then they should contact a doctor without further delay. If one is experiencing chest pain and wheezing then they should be worried especially if it is sustained or is constant. Heavy breathing or wheezing with any exercise or if you are not over weight can be associated with lung cancer.

Conclusion

Small lung cell cancer is treatable, but only if it is diagnosed before it progresses to a mature stage. One must also know that these symptoms are common to many other reasons and diseases which means that if you are experiencing them it doesn't necessarily mean that you have cancer. Still, one must be careful and should get a doctor's appointment as soon as possible. Also many people tend to ignore the warnings associated with smoking and do not quit due to force of habit. If you are a smoker try your best to quit whereas if you have a friend or family member who is an aggressive smoker, try to discourage them as much as you can.
