Currently, in the period of 2011/2012, the 5 best colleges and universities in no particular order are Harvard University, Yale University, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Except for University of Cambridge and University of Oxford, which are English institutions, the rest are American. The fact that these institutions are the 5 best institutions means that they provide the best quality education and accept only the best of the students. These institutions are not only best for undergrad programs but also for post grad and masters programs.

It’s really difficult to choose which university or college you want to attend for your undergrad or post grad programs. There are a few tips you need to keep in your mind. Firstly, always aim for the best. This way you set the bar for yourself, and you struggle to get the best. Secondly, decide what you want to major in. There are a lot subjects you can major in, but every college and university is better at one major than the other. For example, MIT may be the best in engineering and technology, but it may not be best in Law.
