Introduction

A good credit score is so important in the world today. We are now judged by our credit score even more than our character it seems. Now to get a job or rent a house, our credit scores are checked. A bad score can keep you from doing many things in life. If you credit is bad, this can truly affect many aspects of your life from your career to your personal life. There are many ways you can help to repair your credit and get it back on track even if it is bad. You don't have to be stuck with a low credit score for life. If you follow these tips, you can be back on the road to raising your credit rating and improving your chances in life. This is so important if you want to get ahead in life and be able to have a career, home, and car.

The first step to getting you credit score up is to get your credit report. This is one of the most overlooked parts of credit repair. You should check your credit score annually to check for errors. If you do not know what your credit report says or much less your credit score, then you are powerless to make any changes.

If you see any errors on your credit report, you must immediately report them to the creditor as being disputed. The creditor will have so long to provide you with proof that the collection is legitimate. If they can not prove in writing that the debt belongs to you, it must be removed from your credit report immediately. This is so very important because many times there are erroneous marks on your credit and these can be taken care of.

Ignoring you credit collectors can only cause you problems with your credit score. Ignoring them will not make them go away, in fact, it will only make things worse. A debt collector often has options for you. They can arrange payments that you can afford, and they can even settle the debt for less than is owed. (Be careful when taking this option, because paying less can cause a mark on your credit report.) It is so important that you face you credit collectors so that you will not get charge-offs and delinquent accounts on your credit report. Next time a bill collector calls you, just pick up the phone and be honest with them. They can and will work with you most of the time because they would prefer to get your money instead of charging it off.
