Introduction

It is always difficult to define mental health than mental illness. In simple term it can be defined as the absence of mental illness. It is true that all of us do not suffer from any diagnosable disorder of mind but still we know that some of us are more mentally healthier than the others. There is no proper measurement or scale for mental health awareness. We cannot measure exactly the level of our mental health awareness as we measure fever or blood pressure or sugar levels.

Mental health is the level of your psychological well being, your ability to enjoy life and your determination to fight for your objective with a balance between effort and emotions in mind.

History

However, the experts have established few characteristics to understand our mental health awareness as below:

Capability to enjoy life: Your ability to enjoy your life as it comes is very essential for a good mental health. You must always be ready to enjoy the passing time. If you can practice meditation of mindfulness you can develop your mental health through improved mental health awareness. There is no doubt that we have to make planning for the future and at the same time we must remain ready to learn from the past, because history is our greatest teacher, but the fact is, very often we make our present time miserable from the constant worries over the future.

Resilience: It is the ability to bounce back from the adverse situation. Everybody cannot handle stress and hardship equally, some do it better.

Balance in life: We should not be isolated socially, but should strike a proper balance between our personal life and social life as they demand for a fulfilled contented life.

Flexibility: We should not be rigid in opinions, rigidness adds more stress. Emotional and cognitive flexibility are equally important for sound mental health.
