Modern music is made mostly on computers, but some songs can be still played on an instrument, such as the guitar. The guitar cover is very popular in the musical world. But what is a guitar cover anyway?
A guitar cover consists in the main song (instrumental) being played on a guitar by another artist. In the following lines I will explain to you how to make a guitar cover.
Step 1
1. First of all you will need to get a guitar (and a guitar tuner) and know how to play it. Depending on the difficulty of the song for which you want to make the guitar cover your knowledge and mastery with the guitar will be tested. Trying to sing a guitar cover is also a good way to learn how to play a guitar, but it is not the easiest way.
Step 2
2. You will need to download or buy Guitar Pro. Guitar Pro is a specialized computer program which allows any user to download and open guitar pro files (they are tabs for the guitar professionally made with the same program), play them in order to hear how the guitar cover should sound like and more one explains which chords should be pressed and their order.
Step 3
3. After you download and install Guitar Pro you will need to open your internet browser and search Google for guitar pro tabs for the song that you want to make a guitar cover. A more easy way is to enter directly on ultimate-guitar.com. This is a website with a song database specialized in guitar tabs of all kinds (chords, bass tabs, guitar pro tabs, tabs in general). From here you will need to download the guitar pro tabs.
Step 4
4. Now navigate to the location of the download folder and open the downloaded files with guitar pro (make sure that they are the correct files because if you try to open files that are unsupported by the program it will not run).
Step 5
5. After this step has been done all you need to do in order to make a guitar cover after a song that you like is to practice singing the guitar pro tabs on your guitar until you master the song and are able to play it without needing help from the program.
Conclusion
A good thing about Guitar Pro is that if you are really skilled with the guitar, you can use it to write down your own guitar tabs and maybe upload them to the internet (several specialized websites like the one that I used in the third step of this article) to help other singers.
