How To Guitar Tuning

Introduction

Most of the new guitar players sounds bad while playing their guitar. Sometimes it is because they are not playing it right but most of the it is because their guitars are not tuned properly. Most of the players do not know how to guitar tune up. Every guitar player should know how to guitar tune every time he plays it. Most of the cheap guitars go of tune very quickly so one should check and tune his guitar before playing it. Here are some techniques which will help you how to guitar tune up. At first, it will take a few minutes to how to guitar tune but when time pass and you became more familiar with your guitar, you will be able to do it more quickly.

Step 1

Before starting the tuning process, a reference pitch is required from another source. It could be a piano, a tuning instrument or another tuned guitar. One should pick a well tuned guitar or a piano for the reference pitch. It is better to pick a piano because pianos stay well tuned for years. Once you are familiar with the tunes of each cord, you will be able to tune your guitar without a reference pitch. First you have to tune your sixth E string. If you have access to a piano, find the similar E note on the piano and tune your sixth string as similar to the sound of the E note of the piano. Let's go to the next step of how to guitar tune.

Step 2

You can tune it to 1st E below middle C. do it as accurate as possible if you do not have any other instrument. Now the sixth string is tuned, now u have to tune the rest of the string. First, play the A note on the sixth string which is the fifth fret of sixth string. Now tune the open fifth string until it sounds similar to the A note of sixth string.

Step 3

After tuning the fifth string, play the fifth fret (D note) on the fifth string and tune your open fourth string until it sounds similar to the fifth fret (D note) on the fifth string. Now that your fourth string is tuned, play the fifth fret (G note) on the fourth string and tune your third string until it sounds same to the fifth fret (G note) on the fourth string.

Final step

After finishing tuning your third string, play the fourth fret (B note) on the third string and tune your second string until it sounds similar to the fourth fret (B note) on the third string. Now that your second string is tuned, play the fifth fret (E note) on the second string and tune your first string until it sounds same to the fifth fret (E note) on the second string.

Tips

After completing the tuning, play your guitar and check it against any other guitar and fine the tune if it is important. It is a quit long process but more you get familiar to the sound of the string, more quickly you can learn how to guitar tune up.
