History

The very first Disney hotels near theme parks that opened were Disney's Contemporary Resort and Disney's Polynesian Resort. Each of these hotels opened on the grand opening day of the Magic Kingdom, October 1st, 1971. These two hotels are located just steps, or a monorail ride, away from the Magic Kingdom theme park. They are both on the monorail transportation line, along with Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, which opened on July 1st, 1988. New Disney hotels near resort property continue to be added to keep up with the millions of guests that Walt Disney World sees each and every year.

When you are looking for Disney hotels near theme parks to stay at, you will first need to decide which park you would like to be closest to. Disney is home to four theme parks, two water parks, and a downtown area. The Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot are the theme parks located here. Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach make up the water parks. When you stay at Disney hotels near your favorite park, you may be able to walk in to the park, take a quick boat ride, or get on a bus that only takes a few minutes. The further away you stay from theme parks, the longer it will take to get there by Disney transportation.

The Magic Kingdom is accessible by a short boat ride.

Disney hotels near the Animal Kindgom and Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Animal Kingdom Villas. At these hotels, you are just a short bus ride away from the Animal Kingom theme park.

To stay near the Epcot theme park in Walt Disney World, a few of the top choices are the Boardwalk Inn, the Beach Club Resort, and the Swan and Dolphin resorts.
