What Is Back Acne?

Introduction

Back acne can be discouraging to anyone who has the skin condition. This type of acne forms when skin pores become clogged with debris, such as bacteria, oil and dirt. It can be mild or severe, depending on the person who has the acne. People with acne back problems may feel uncomfortable about wearing certain clothing. They tend to hide their skin condition by wearing coverings that may actually make the problem worse. When clothes cause the skin to sweat, or if clothing rubs against the skin, the back acne can become more infected.

History

There are many treatments for acne back symptoms. Products containing benzoyl peroxide and other types of bacteria killing ingredients may help control or eliminate back acne. People may want to research the ingredients found in acne cleansers because some may cause skin aggravation or increase the acne flare-ups. Clarifying cleansers for the body may work for some people, while oil controlling products work best for others. Another type of cleaning product for acne of the back is salicylic acid. This ingredient is found in many acne products on the market. It generally works well to clear up existing skin problems while preventing new problems from occurring.

Acne sufferers with severe problems may want to seek the expertise of a dermatologist. This doctor may prescribe medications that are stronger and more productive than over-the-counter medications. However, the medications can be harsh and cause the problem to flare up more before actually getting rid of acne back conditions.

Features

There are ways to help prevent acne back conditions from occurring in the first place. Cleaning the body with non-irritating cleansers, such as clarifying body wash, may help. Eating a balanced diet of fruits and vegetables is a good way to ease the symptoms and lessen the acne. Healthy foods contain vitamins and minerals that have antioxidants. Antioxidants can increase healthy cell production and reduce free radicals in the skin. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day and keeping the skin dry are also good examples of preventing back acne. If a person tends to sweat a lot, wearing cotton garments may help the skin breathe. When exercising, be sure to take a shower or bath immediately afterward. This rids the skin of any bacteria, dirt and oil found in sweat. Also wear loose clothing while running or performing tough exercises that may cause heavy sweating.
