Introduction

The mental heath job sector is a rewarding but challenging career path. People who are involved in this line of work are helping people who are vulnerable, troubled and need some assistance. In this article we will list some of the jobs in the mental heath sector, and the information that you should know pertaining to each of them.

Step 1

A Clinical Psychologist is the first of the jobs in mental health. Individuals employed in this career primarily examine and assess people's behavioral and mental health problems, and they may provide treatment when applicable. The additional tasks and duties that one may be responsible for this jobs in mental heath are as follows: to examine the clients' medical, social and family histories, conduct interviews and observations of the client, give psychometric and neuropsychological tests in order to identify problems. They also discuss the treatment of problems with clients, develop individual treatment plans, evaluate the effects of this treatment, write reports on clients progress, and assist in group therapy. There are also a few personal traits and skills which are ideal for anyone who wishes to get into this job in mental heath. These are  having knowledge on human behavior and thought patterns, the ability to provide the suitable treatment for each case, and up to date knowledge of theories on etiology and clinical psychology research. They must also have listening and interviewing skills, good people skills and research and report writing abilities, the ability to relates to all types of people, patient and calm, observant, and the ability to work under pressure. 

Step 2

The next of the job in the mental health sector is a Counselor. A counselor is a trained professional who is there to listen to peoples problems and issues and delver valuable advice to aid in their problems. A counselor may come into contact with the following duties/tasks while working in this job in mental health. To have the task of encouraging clients to express their true and honest emotions in relation to a particular subject, listen, respond and reflect on various topics introduced by clients, to help clients understand their own problems, discuss changes that a client could make to their life in order to make it better, to support clients in their choices, research for relevant information that could aid in clients well being and to run workshops/courses for clients. 

Step 3

The next job in mental heath that we will show case is a Psychiatrist, a professional that aids in assessing and providing treatment for clients. They carry out many of the same tasks if a psychologists, but they differ in the fact that they have a medical degree, therefore they can prescribe medication. Some additional tasks that a psychiatrist will perform are to carry out medical tests on patients ( blood tests, diagnostic procedures) and use the results of these tests to deduce what is affecting their clients, educate trainee psychiatrists, other health professionals, research  mental disorders and their treatments, provide evidence in court when the need arises, and administrative duties. 

Step 4

We are now moving on to the next prominent jobs in metal health ,a Psychiatric Nurse. A psychiatric nurse's chief responsibilities focus on providing treatment, care and support for clients that have emotional, mental and psychological problems. On a daily basis they will come across the following tasks, helping with diagnostic tests, observe and then report on the mental behaviour of a client, give advice and support to clients, administer prescribed medication to clients, run therapy groups, visit clients in the community and offer help to clients so that they can look after themselves. 

Step 5

The last jobs in mental health we will exhibit is the Social Worker, an individual who provides assistance, protection and support to  people with personal and social problems. From working to improve the welfare of children and young adults to writing reports and case studies, a social worker is one who has to carry out a range of difficult but rewarding tasks for the benefits of the members of the community and the community as a whole.
