Introduction

Email correspondence is one of the most popular means of communication for internet users. We use email for personal and business correspondence. Sometimes an internet user may have the need to send the same email to multiple people without having to type each individual email out or using the forward feature to do so. There is a way you can send email to several people at once by using common features available in almost every email interface available.

Step 1

The next thing you need to do in order to send email to multiple people is to go to the website where your email account is located. If you are using a webmail service such as Gmail, Yahoo, or AOL email, you just simply go to the appropriate website where you generally log in to your webmail. If you are using Outlook, then you should have an icon on your desktop for Outlook. You just need to make sure you are where you need to be in order to log in to the appropriate email account that you wish to use in order to send your email.

Step 2

Now that you have entered your username and password in order to log in to the appropriate email account, you will need to go to the appropriate place within your email and get ready to compose a new email. If you are sending a newsletter that you have prepared or a business correspondence you have typed into word or another text based program, you need to make sure you have it open and ready so you may copy and paste the contents in the body of the email. If not, then you will just need to type the contents into the place where the body of the email is.  This is a simple process when you want to send an email to multiple people at once.

Step 3

You should now be in a position where you can see the compose screen within your email account. The area that you will be inputting email addresses in is generally located towards the top of the screen that you are composing your email in. You should have options such as:

  • Cc
  • Bcc
  • Subject
  • To

Different email interfaces may appear different, so you will need to look and see what options are offered to you within the interface you using.

Step 4

You are certainly where you need to be now, so the next step is going to be where you will be selecting who you want the email to go to. First and foremost, whatever email address you enter into the “to” field is going to be visible to all recipients. If you are sending an email such as a newsletter or other bulk type email, you may want to just enter your own email into that field so others won’t be seeing someone else’s private email address.

Step 5

If you have the email addresses in your address book within your email account, you can actually click on the “cc” option. Sometimes this feature will automatically open up your address book and sometimes it will not. From your address book you are able to select which recipients you want to get this email. When you use the “cc” option, you must remember that the email addresses you send to will be visible to each person that you send this specific email to.

Should you want to conceal the email addresses, you will need to use the “bcc” feature which will allow you to conceal the email addresses of recipients. If you are entering email addresses by copying and pasting them or manually, you can simply use the “to” feature and input the email addresses in there. If you are putting multiple email addresses in, you will need to separate each one of them by typing a comma in between.

So now you have the basics on how you send email to multiple people at the same time. With any email account, you need to familiarize yourself with the basic usage and utilize any help feature the email provider has made available to you.
