Step 1

Setting up your email account on an iPad so that you get to read and send messages to your loved ones is fairly easy. The first thing you need to know is all of your account information i.e. your address, password, account type, incoming mail server, outgoing mail server and lastly the port number.

The next and most important step to get your account set up is to click on the “Settings” icon that is in your menu. Next, we click on the “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” button and click on the “Add Account”. Then you will see a screen with types of accounts which you will then have to select i.e. which one of those types you would like to add and enter all your email information into. We select from the available options provided there; if you have a Gmail account then select that option. We can also choose “Other” if it is an account that we get from our internet service provider. Then we simply tap on the “Add Mail Account” and add all the required information.

Now once you have set up your email account, all you have to do is open the “Mail” icon that is present on the dock. It is there by default, you cannot move it out of there even if you want to. Mails on an iPad look pretty much similar to those viewed on an iPhone or iPod. But one thing that is better in an iPad is that if you flip your device into landscape mode, you can have an always on access to your inbox and get to see who has mailed you and read their messages.

You can use your iPad to get to email anyone you want by tapping the top right button that is an icon of a notepad and a pencil.

By clicking on this button you get to compose an email and send it to anyone by typing in the mail account of that person or you can just tap on the little “+” icon on the top right. This will open up your contact list which will be synched through iTunes if you already have an email or an address book set up.
