What Are the Different Types Of Cancer

General Types of Cancer

Cancer is a wide term employed to include many malignant illnesses. There are approximately 100 types of cancer that have an effect upon different areas of the body. All types of cancers are unique with reasons, symptoms, and treatment options. Of the many, skin cancer is one of the most generally diagnosed cancer between men and women. The following are the most general types cancer in the U.S.


• Breast cancer
• Bladder cancer
• Endometrial cancer
• Colon cancer
• Leukemia
• Renal cancer
• Melanoma
• Lung cancer
• Pancreatic cancer
• Non-Hodgkin lymphoma
• Thyroid cancer
• Prostate cancer

Cancer can be affected to any organ or tissue in the body. Affected cells have the capacity to attack nearby organs and tissues, hence spreading the disease. Cancerous cells can also enter the blood stream and spread the malady to other organs. It is popularly known as metastasis. If cancer has spread all over the body, the malady is referred to organ of source. For instance, when cervical cancer disseminates to the lungs, the condition is known as cervical cancer, instead of lung cancer.

• Blood cancer: Blood cells that are affected causing blood cancer. Most common forms of blood types cancer are lymphoma and leukemia.
• Bone cancer: It is relatively rare and affects both adults and children. Most general types of bone cancer are osteosarcoma and Ewing’s sarcoma.
• Brain Cancer: Both adults and children can be prone to brain cancers. Affected brain tumors don’t spread outside the brain. Common types include brain stem glioma, adult brain tumor, cerebral astrocytoma/malignant glioma, cerebellar astrocytoma, medulloblastoma, ependymoma, visual pathway, and hypothalamic glioma.
• Breast cancer: This is commonly found in women and hardly in men. Around 200,000 women are found with breast types cancer in America. General types of breast cancer are lobular carcinoma in situ, ductal carcinoma in situ, Paget's disease of the nipple, inflammatory breast cancer, invading types of breast cancer.

Gastrointestinal cancer: This is a wide types cancer that have an impact upon all from the gullet to the anus. All types are specific and have own symptoms, causes and treatment options. Common types include anal cancer, carcinoid tumor, bile duct cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, gallbladder cancer, pancreatic cancer, small intestine cancer, rectal cancer, or stomach cancer.

Endocrine Cancer: This types cancer affects the endocrine system of the body, which is responsible for hormonal and glandular activities. Most common types of endocrine cancer include carcinoid tumors, adrenocortical carcinoma, parathyroid cancer, islet cell carcinoma, pheochromocytoma, thyroid cancer, pituitary tumor.

The other most common types cancers are eye cancer, genitourinary cancer, gynecological cancers, brain cancer, throat cancer, respiratory cancers, skin cancers, and more. If a timely diagnosis is made and appropriate medications and treatments are taken, almost all cancers can be eliminated at its preliminary stage. Today, a lot of diagnosing methods are launched to quickly and easily detect types cancer. Effective medications and treatment options are also available these days that helps patients get rid of minute symptoms of cancer.
